About

Dereck is the first additional Associate Private Wealth Manager to join Grant Capital since the company’s founding and joined the team in April of 2024. He has a passion for helping advisors take the task of capital management and retirement planning off client's shoulders. He takes pride in helping them focus their time and energy on what matters most in their lives – such as their loved ones and their career. In a world where much of the service industry seems to be more and more transactional, he believes that building relationships with clients is one of the keys to being a successful financial professional.

Experience and Education

Dereck graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in May of 2021 as a proud Bearcat, where he majored in Business Economics. He was recognized by the Cardinal Key Honor Society for his scholarship, leadership, and community service. Following graduation, he hit the ground running in the finance industry and spent much of his time servicing and meeting with clients under a Lead Advisor. This experience allowed him to learn all the aspects and knowledge that are essential to being a financial professional for clients.

Personal

Dereck lives in Overland Park with his little boy, where you can find them going on walks or spending time at the playground. He believes that “putting in the work” does not have to stop at the workplace, and that working on one’s personal health and fitness is just as important. He has an identical twin brother who acts as his gym partner when lifting weights and a sparring partner when training at their MMA gym. On the weekends you can find Dereck enjoying himself with friends or family around the KC area, catching a live band or a good game at a local bar and grill.
